Assessments


Assessment is an essential feature of learning at St Benedict’s Catholic College. Assessment enables students to practise skills and develop a more comprehensive understanding of subject matter. Moreover, assessment facilitates the discovery of students’ strengths and weaknesses through feedback. Finally, assessment performance is used to report on student achievement.

Twice per year, students will receive a report that will indicate their achievement in each course they study. In Years 7 – 11, a report grade will represent the student’s achievement in formal and informal tasks over the reporting period. In both types of assessment, the classroom teacher will make their judgement based on evidence of achievement across a range of course outcomes. In Years 10 and 11, the end of course grades will be forwarded to NESA for the Record of Student Achievement. In Year 12, students’ formal assessments will be submitted to NESA to be calculated for a HSC.
