Subject Selection

As students at St Benedict’s Catholic College become more experienced learners they are given more scope to follow subjects in which they are interested and in which they have demonstrated aptitude.

The College offers a full range of NESA courses in the Middle School including a wide range of elective subjects in Year 9.

In Stage 5 (Year 9 and Year 10) students choose an in-depth elective to study over two years and two interest electives, one studied in Year 9 and the other in Year 10.

In Stage 6 (Year 11 and 12), the College offers a broad range of courses catering for students attempting an ATAR. Moreover, there are also courses to support students who would like to use the HSC as a starting point to move into the workforce. Students have the opportunity to complete school based apprenticeships as well as complete a TAFE Certificate II in Kitchen Operations, Certificate II in Business and also Certificate II in Construction.

Contained in the following sections is information about the specific subject selection processes for each group. In addition, students will find forms important in the subject selection process.
