Stage 5

Stage 5 Electives (Year 9 and Year 10)

Students in Year 9 and 10 have the opportunity to study a range of electives. As part of the subject selection process, they choose an in-depth elective that they will study for two years. They also choose two interest electives, one studied in Year 9 and the other in Year 10.

Stage 5 Elective Process

The process for choosing Stage 5 Electives begins in Term 3 of Year 8. During an electives showcase morning, students are introduced to the full range of subjects being offered. The process of elective selection and the subjects being offered are also explored with parents during an information night early in Term 3.

Subject selection is a two-step process. In the first round, students indicate the subjects in which they are interested enabling the College to determine the subjects that will be offered and the lines on which they will appear. The second step involves students making their final choices for Year 9. They choose their in-depth, 2-year subject and their Year 9, 1-year interest elective. The College usually makes final elective offers to each student by the end of Term 3. In Term 3 of Year 9, students will then choose their Year 10 interest elective.

Included in this section you will find Stage 5 Subject Change forms. During Term 3, other subject selection information and links to online forms will also be provided.
