Languages other than English

Globalisation has brought our world physically closer together. With great ease, we can visit many countries but we need to take an extra step to fully experience life abroad. Unless we can communicate with others in the language their culture operates in, how can we truly experience these countries?
St Benedict’s Catholic College promotes language as a communication tool with others as the world becomes a smaller place. While studying a language, students become aware of our place in the international community, begin to accept diversity and develop a greater understanding of multicultural Australia.
Students at St Benedict’s Catholic College develop skills in all four areas of language study:
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
Through the study of these skills, student’s differing learning styles are catered for within a supportive environment where students are encouraged to “risk-take” in the target language to complete several activity based communication tasks. These tasks generally mirror real life situations.
